One day, two sunsets

On the past 12th of August, it was possible to witness the solar eclipse, and it was interesting to hear various opinions about this astronomical phenomenon in which the Moon almost completely covered the Sun. Something was certain: it did not cause fear, and apparently, the most evident feeling was curiosity.

 

For those who were in contact with nature, out in the countryside, experiencing such unique moments had several nuances.

 

First, around 6:00 PM, a slight gust of wind was felt; just a few seconds of movement, the leaves of the trees brushing against each other, with the persistence of coarse sandpaper leaves. Then, silence, again and profoundly complete. In other words, could it have been a prelude to the change in sunlight?

 

At 6:30 PM, the time the eclipse began, nothing was noticed. The minutes went by, and one could even feel some frustration, because after all, it seemed like nothing! One thought.

 

Gradually, the light seemed to change, from the bright August light to a very timid sepia.

 

By 7:30 PM, yes, finally yes this is a partial but visible eclipse. And don’t look at the sun directly because that could be harmful to your eyes. The light around everything, weaker than usual, already revealed something like impact… It got so dark, so quickly, that nocturnal insects started to sing, more and more as the brownish twilight took over. The cold of the night was coming from that sky, mixing with the heat of the day still radiating from the ground. The heart was beating faster in that silence, only filled with insect sounds. After a few minutes, it started to gently lighten, the insects went quiet, until the bright light of an August evening returned. By 8:30 PM, the day was as usual, a slow twilight, still accompanied by the chirping of one or two birds looking for a place to sleep. Where could they have been the hour before?! And after 9:00 PM, the night insects' singing returned… there was something different about them: they didn’t seem as intense, as present.
